How We Handle Your Personal Information

busschedules.org/ takes data protection seriously. This page sets out what we collect from you as a visitor, why, and the rights you have under federal and state privacy laws.

1. Who We Are

busschedules.org/ is an independent informational and educational directory that publishes practical, step-by-step guidance for using U.S. transit agencies, intercity bus carriers, paratransit services, and school bus systems across all 50 states. We are the business and the controller for the personal information described on this page.

For any privacy-related question, contact us at info@busschedules.org with the subject line “Privacy request” and we will respond within the time limits set out below.

2. Scope of This Policy โ€” Important

This policy is about your data as a visitor โ€” not records held by transit agencies or carriers

This privacy policy covers personal information about you, the visitor to busschedules.org/. It does not cover records held by U.S. transit agencies, intercity carriers (Greyhound, FlixBus, Megabus, Peter Pan, Trailways), paratransit operators, school districts, or fare-card system operators (OMNY, Clipper, ORCA, SmarTrip, CharlieCard, TAP, and others) โ€” which are held by those organisations under their own privacy policies. busschedules.org/ does not host, mirror, or republish those records. Concerns about a specific account at a transit agency, fare-card balance, ticket purchase, paratransit application, or school transportation record must be raised with that organisation directly.

We do not ask for it and you should not send it through our contact channel.

We do not collect or retain ticket purchases, fare-card balances, journey histories, paratransit-eligibility records, or school transportation enrollment from visitors. Those interactions happen between you and the agency, carrier, or vendor directly โ€” we don’t see or log them.

4. Transit-Agency and Carrier Records โ€” Held by Them, Not by Us

Tickets, accounts, paratransit applications, and journey data stay with the agency or carrier

If you've purchased a ticket from Greyhound, FlixBus, Megabus, Peter Pan, Trailways, or your local agency, registered for a fare card (OMNY, Clipper, ORCA, SmarTrip, CharlieCard, TAP), applied for paratransit eligibility, or enrolled a child in school transportation, those records are held by the receiving organisation. busschedules.org/ does not have access to them and does not maintain a parallel database. To request access, correction, or deletion, contact the organisation directly. State public-records laws may apply for transit-agency records.

5. How We Collect Personal Information

  • Directly from you โ€” when you email us, complete a contact form, or set cookie preferences
  • Automatically โ€” when you visit the site, your browser sends standard technical information so the page can load

The site honours the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a valid opt-out of “sale” and “sharing” under CCPA/CPRA, the Colorado Privacy Act, the Connecticut Data Privacy Act, and similar laws that recognise universal opt-out mechanisms.

14. Security

We apply technical and organisational measures appropriate to the risk: encryption of data in transit (HTTPS across the site), access controls on administrative tools, regular software updates, secure authentication for our editorial team, and contractual security commitments from vendors. If we become aware of a breach involving your personal information, we will notify you and applicable authorities consistent with state breach-notification laws.
